"MAUI. JULY 30, 1970.
Some concerts become legends. Others become obsessions.
For me, Jimi Hendrix’s performance at Maui has always been one of the most inspiring moments in his entire career. There is something unique in the sound he achieved that day—especially during the two performances of Hey Baby (New Rising Sun), first with the Flying V and later with the Olympic White Stratocaster.
That tone was different.
It was thicker, more liquid, more “aquatic” and swirling than what we hear in Woodstock or Fillmore East. The modulation seemed to breathe, moving underneath every note with a deep and chewy pulse that has fascinated me for years.
The new Sabbadius Funky-Vibe MAUI ST was born from that inspiration.
Built around my exclusive custom-made 7mm CdS photocells and a genuine 1970s Japanese lamp, the MAUI ST has been carefully tuned to deliver a deeper throb, a richer low end and a more fluid modulation character than any previous Funky-Vibe version.
Even the purple LEDs were chosen as a tribute to Hendrix himself—his music, his spirit, and the unforgettable colors of that Hawaiian sky captured forever in the Rainbow Bridge film.
This is not just another Funky-Vibe.
This is my personal tribute to one of the most magical sounds Jimi Hendrix ever created.
Welcome to MAUI."
